Registration, housing open for Rubber Division spring meeting

AKRON—The ACS Rubber Division has opened registration and housing for its spring technical meeting, to be held April 30 to May 2 in Independence, Ohio.

Early registration pricing is available through March 31 and the discounted hotel rate is good until April 1.

The keynote speaker for the spring meeting will be Kim de Groh, a senior materials reserarch engineer at the NASA Glen Research Center's Environmental Effects and Coatings Branch. She will talk about the durability of polymers in the space environment and space flight experiments on the International Space Station.

The Rubber Division session also will include the luncheon to honor the Science & Technology Award winners, including the presentation of the Charles Goodyear Medal to Roderic Quirk, an emeritus distinguished professor of polymer science at the University of Akron.

Scheduled symposia include:

  • Self-healing polymers;
  • Nano-scale tools for rubber analysis;
  • Industrial rubber products;Dynamic properties of elastomers;
  • Science, technology and applications of rubber interfaces and adhesion;
  • Flammability and thermal stability of elastomers; and
  • Presentations from the Science & Technology Awards recipients.
